Why aren't new classic cars made anymore?

Rona Ising: The are classic because they aren't made anymore. The Volkswagen Beetle design didn't change much over decades and you do not really see many of those in classic car shows. The car dealers change the look of their models to give a reason to trade in their old cars and buy a new one. Otherwise everybody would just drive it into the ground and the car companies would probably sell only a fourth to a third of the cars they actually do.Now there is an advantage to newer cars. They are far safer even though the use and thickness of the steel used causes less visible damage. The older cars had no seat belts, airbags, had steel dashboard and non breakaway windshields that shatter and causes serious head injuries. The gas mileage was terrible (my first car, a 53 Oldsmobile got 7 miles a gallo! n). They weigh considerably more, the stopping distance was greater, and the engine is cleaner and more efficient. As far as looks, the newer cars are more aerodynamic as well.There are a few companies that will make and sell "classic" style cars but they do not sell that well as it is nto the real thing....Show more

I love the muscle cars of yesterday, and I even own one, but the aerodynamics, dependability, net power, and options of today's cars are unmatched by anything in the past.
