Enriqueta Steffen: Be more specific. Do you mean landscape round the library, or internal landscaping in the library. And how much space do you have? Is this just a visual landscape or are people going to go into it? Is the building multi-storey or just one storey - affects the light and type of planting. I can certainly give you the principles if you give me more information.

Do you want trees around to cool the air, do you want scented plants to engage all the senses, do you want lots of benches and spaces for people to sit and read?A good landscape designer will sit with a client and go through what the client wants to achieve with their space. Perhaps call a good one?
