Florencia Manolakis: One of the physics teachers at the local high school has two science-related hobbies which have made him more money that his salary, yet he did them for years just because they interested him.In one, he worked on the illusion of entering a body as one's seeming size shrank, until the lens was so close-up the cells, bacteria, etc. seemed huge. This is a decidedly weird thing to do for someone not in the medical field. He later sold specific sequences to Fox TV (used on "House") and to CBS (on multiple versions of "CSI").His other hobby is close-up photography of snow flakes; he's considered one of the top experts on their geometry now, as well as selling a few dozen enlargeme! nts as art prints....Show more
Irvin Guiles: Maybe he's into photography and has his own darkroom where he develops film. Because chemistry would be relevant to the chemicals used in developing, and physics comes into play with the way that different lenses and light conditions affect the image.I had a physics teacher who used to be in the Territorial Army and used to relate almost every physics lesson to guns and ammunition....Show more
